A clinician in Finland spends up to three hours per day on documentation, taking time from patient care and recovery between shifts.
This workload shapes how care is delivered. When attention is split between patients and screens, conversations shorten and important details are easier to miss. Across Europe, more than half of patients say doctors appear distracted by paperwork during appointments.
Health and social care organisations are looking for practical ways to reduce documentation time without changing appointment structures or increasing pace.
CGI’s OMNI360 EHR is used every day by tens of thousands of social and healthcare professionals across Finland, supporting care delivery for around 1.5 million inhabitants across major wellbeing services counties.
Through this partnership, Tandem’s AI assistant is being integrated directly into OMNI360 as part of the OMNI360 AI assistant offering. The integration supports clinical documentation inside systems that are already embedded in daily work, across services operating at national scale.
For organisations using OMNI360, this means AI supported documentation can be introduced within the existing EHR environment. Clinical workflows stay familiar, while documentation support becomes available wherever OMNI360 is used.
The documentation process follows the flow of everyday clinical work.
During a patient visit, Tandem's AI listens to the conversation and identifies all clinically relevant information. A structured draft note is created during the encounter. After the visit, the clinician reviews and approves the content before it is saved in OMNI360.
Clinical responsibility stays with the professional. Notes are reviewed, edited if needed, and approved before becoming part of the medical record.
By capturing information during the visit, documentation no longer depends on memory at the end of the day or short gaps between patients.
Finnish health and social care operate under strict requirements for accuracy, data protection, and regulatory compliance. The integration has been designed to meet these requirements within OMNI360’s existing governance framework.
Documentation drafts remain under clinician control. Approved records are stored securely inside the EHR. No external records or shadow systems are created.
During evaluation, CGI identified Tandem’s technology as well suited for clinical documentation while maintaining reliability and professional oversight.
“Documentation related to patient visits is an area where we have developed AI powered support by building on both our own expertise and that of our partners. In practice, Tandem Health’s technology proved to be the best option for automating clinical documentation,”
stated Kimmo Alaniska, Director for Customer and Patient Information Systems Development at CGI’s OMNI360.
Documentation pressure is closely linked to stress, overtime, and fragmented attention. Across Europe, the majority of clinicians feel the admin burden limits their patient time and hurts the quality of care.
When notes are drafted during the visit, fewer hours are spent completing records after the patient leaves. That time reappears as more predictable schedules, fewer backlogs, and more consistent patient interaction.
Accurate documentation created at the point of care also supports safer information sharing across services and reduces the risk of missing or delayed records.
For CGI, the partnership extends OMNI360 with documentation support designed for real care environments. For Tandem Health, it means working through a platform already trusted across Finnish healthcare.
“CGI is an attractive partner for us because of the high quality of the OMNI360 system and its strong customer relationships. By bringing Tandem’s AI solutions into this ecosystem, we can improve the everyday work of social and healthcare professionals and free up time for patients and clients,”
said Johan Sanmark, Country Director for Tandem Health in Finland.
The focus remains practical. Reduce time spent on documentation. Support clinicians in systems they already use. Keep care moving without adding pressure.
