Research report: what 1,200 clinicians and patients say about AI-powered tools in healthcare

Nyheder

Across the UK, clinicians are under strain. Admin is piling up. Consultations are rushed. And both doctors and patients are feeling the impact.

Our latest report, Time to Care, explores how the growing burden of documentation is affecting care, and what happens when we start reversing that trend.

Based on insights from over 1,200 clinicians and patients, the report reveals:

  • 75% of clinicians say documentation is too time-consuming
  • 64% say it negatively affects patient interactions
  • 52% worry about clinical errors when rushed
  • Only 8% currently have access to AI tools – but 88% believe they’ll become standard within 5 years

Patients are feeling it too. 56% say their doctor seems too focused on the screen. One in four has found a mistake in their medical record.

But here’s the shift:

Patients and clinicians aren’t resisting technology, they’re asking for the right kind. Tools that save time, reduce errors, and restore focus on what matters: care.

The report highlights growing support for ambient AI scribes like Tandem. Not as a replacement for clinicians, but as a way to bring back time, presence, and trust in the room.

Private providers are already ahead. Patients are open. The profession is ready. The question isn’t if AI will transform care – it’s how quickly.
